Mentalist - Tea!

If you think fandom on LJ/DW is dead, you're just not looking in the right place
One of these days I'll need to write that post about care and maintenance of small fandoms that I've been planning for years... Because all my fandoms have always been either small or dying, my approach to fandom has always been to stop complaining and do it yourself. If you build it, they will come. In this case, thanks to a night spent metaphorically knocking on people's doors and spreading the word, The Mentalist is now an official Remix Redux fandom. I was a bit disappointed that neither The X-Files nor Babylon 5 even got in the running because I'm sure we could have found enough people to qualify those too.

But, if you want to rewrite someone else's fic, and have written at least five 500+ stories in one of the qualifying fandoms, come and sign up here. It's my favourite ficathon of the year (and the only exchange where you're basically writing for yourself even when you're matched up with someone), so I definitely recommend trying it out!

And that's not the only multifandom ficathon currenly running, oh no.

Not Prime Time, a multifandom fic exchange for medium sized fandoms (think of Yuletide, but for fandoms that are a bit too big for it), is just gearing up; [community profile] queer_fest for fic and art about LGBTIA experiences is open for prompts; and [personal profile] scifi_fic_swap, the fic exchange for scifi fandoms, is open for sign-ups.

If you don't want to commit to anything, but would just like to get some inspiration and maybe make make someone happy, both rarewomen, the rare female character focused ficathon, and shipswap, the rare ship fic exchange, have revealed all prompts for treating.

And in non-challenge front, [community profile] fringe_rewatch will be watching Fringe one episode per week starting April 1st, while [community profile] tv_talk is still rewatching Firefly and Veronica Mars.

You are my role model, just in case you didn't already know, and I have adopted that saying as my motto. It's been working, so far.

Aww, thank you :)

(I admit, my very first thought when I noticed that XF wasn't included on the poll was to wonder if there'd be any interest in an XF-only remix... :D)

I was thinking the same thing. Where should we put up the post for that?

Good job at getting The Mentalist in, by the way.

I guess I should participate and offer/request Fringe. But I don't want to have to remix Peter/Olivia fic and that's so dominant in the fandom.

I might just hang on and see what happens with Remix madness.

Where should we put up the post for that?

I think the best strategy would probably be to wait until Remix Redux is over, and then gauge for interest in the remixers_lounge community (I think they allow posts like that), since I think there would probably be an overlap between people who would like to do an XF remix and people who participate in the remix anyway.

But I don't want to have to remix Peter/Olivia fic and that's so dominant in the fandom.

I know the feeling. There are a couple of fandoms that I'm not offering because I couldn't write the dominant pairing. But did you notice that all the requests are already visible in the request summary? So you could have a look at the people who qualify with Fringe and check out what kind of fic they've written.
